Marines Slate Standout Athlete Challenge on May 15

St. Albans, WV (HNN) - The 2010 STANDOUT ATHLETE CHALLENGE presented by the United States Marine Corps will kick off Saturday, May 15, 2010, 9:00 am at St. Albans High School. This is a new competition geared towards the youth of the area. The competition will be open to 9th through 12th grade students who want to see how they stack up against the other athletes in the area.
 
-The competition will be based around "COMBINE" type events. The following 12 events will the basis of the competition:
 
40 yard dash, "L" cone drill, three cone drills, 60 yard shuttle run, vertical leap, broad jump, football accuracy throw, free throw, three point shooting completion, pushups, pull ups, and crunches
 
-Medals and t-shirts will be awarded to the winners of each event based on grade.
 
-The overall school winner will also receive a trophy to have to display at their school.
 
-Scouts from the NATIONAL COLLEGIATE SCOUTING ASSOCIATION (NCSA) will be on hand to observe, and also give out information to anyone who plans on playing sports at a collegiate level.
 
-The results of the events will also be posted on the NCSA website.
 
This event is free for all athletes. Normally to take part in this type of event you would have to pay upwards of $100.00 on an individual level.
 
Come out on May 15th and see if you and your school have what it takes to be named the 2010 STANDOUT ATHLETE CHAMPION.
