Huntington, WV (HNN) – Usually you watch films on a screen then adjourn to a reception venue for a awards ceremony. For the second time in the history of the Thomas Lamb designed Keith Albee, the ‘on stage’ became the scene of a banquet; filmmakers picked up their awards there too.
Decorated in a cinematic theme, the ancient stage hosted a buffet prior to opening the envelopes.
The winners were:
FEATURE: (1) “The Crimson Mask,” (2) “Passenger Pigeon, and (3) “Maxwell Stein.”
YOUNG FILMMAKER: “September”
DOCUMENTARY: (1) “Dirty Business,” (2) “The Mountain Music Project”
SCREENPLAY: (1) “The Swamp Dragon,” (2) “The Honeymoon by George Snider
PEOPLE’S CHOICE SHORT: “Down No. 5” produced/directed by former Huntington resident, Kim Spurlock
SHORT: “Fire in the Mountain”
MICRO FILM: “Appalachian Dreams”
Winners receive a handcrafted Blenko customized “apple” (or “appy”) and collect winnings ranging from $250 to $1,000.
The festival had over 150 films and screenplays competing.
Guest Artist, Jacob (“Dancing Outlaw”) presented his newest production, “The Object,” which explores the life changing events of a man who believes he has found the Bibical artifact known as the Urim and Thummim, which was worn by Moses to receive answers from God.
