Alum Creek, WV (HNN) - Kelly’s Kids, a new non-profit organization is holding a Community Family Fun and Information Day Saturday May 8th from 11am-3pm at Midway Elementary in Alum Creek, Lincoln County WV. The event will serve as the official kick off the group’s efforts to assist local children who have been the victim of fires, floods and other life altering events.

The group is named for Kelly Holder, a lifelong resident of Alum Creek WV resident who was in the process with wife Lori of adopting a family of four children when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Due to the diagnosis, Kelly and Lori were unable to adopt the children. After undergoing a lengthy series of treatments, Kelly lost his battle with leukemia just before his 36th birthday.

Now just over two years later, family and friends of Kelly Holder have come together in an effort to share his memory with others by forming Kelly’s Kids, combining Kelly's abilities to assist others in an emergency with his love for children.

The goal of Kelly's Kids is to provide a care package for each child whose life has been displaced by fire, flood, etc. The contents of the package will include blankets, stuffed animals, crayons, coloring books, puzzles, games, toiletries, etc.

The Kelly’s Kids community Family Fun and Information Day will include games and activities for kids and families, fire safety demonstrations from local firefighters, free safety seat inspections by law enforcement officials, information from the Red Cross on their relief efforts for children and families, a Jupiter Jump for young visitors, food, music and more.
