Cabell Lottery Proceeds Massively Plunge in March 2010

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Revenues recorded from lottery devices in Cabell County during the March 1-March 31, 2010 time frame have recorded a steep drop, based on data provided by the W.Va. Lottery Commission website. The full month total, represents about 21 days of the Cabell Health Department no smoking ban, which took effect March 10, 2010.
During March nearly $22.5 million dollars was “played” in the county’s machines with a revenue of $1,927,017.44. In March 2009, nearly $28 million dollars were “Played” and revenues were nearly $2.4 million dollars. The preceding year, March 2008, recorded nearly $27 million dollars “played” and revenue of just over $2.1 million dollars.
Checking the “played” figures for Wayne County in 2010 and 2009, their revenue decreased in 2010 from 2009. $9.9 million dollsrs was “played” in 2010 with revenue of $825,751; 2009 saw nearly $11 million dollars “played” and $942,143 in revenue.
Putnam County had $7.89 million dollars played in 2010 and revenues of $722,741. In 2009, the “played” amount was $735 million dollars and revenues of $611,734. 2008 Putnam played amount was $6.541 million dollars and $578,669 in revenue.
By comparison, Kanawha County --- which also has a smoking ban but also has the racetrack and casino --- $37 million dollars were “played” with revenue of $3,045 million dollars.
