POLICE/COURT/FIRST RESPONDER BLOTTER: Stabbing Arrest; Woman Sentenced; Dog Killed in Fire

BREAKING: An armed invasion styled robbery has been reported by a woman in the Hidden Trails Apartments, in the 5600 block of Peyton Court. Based on the initial dispatch, two men kicked in a door and held a gun to her head. The incident occurred prior to 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 13.
 
Huntington, WV (HNN)- Following a dispatch that a woman had been stabbed Sunday, April 11, Huntington Police arrested Paula Dean, 48. Dean has been charged with malicious wounding and possession of a controlled substance after initial word of the stabbing came during a call from the HPD lobby.
 
The victim, Linda Ferris, has been stabbed in the leg at Split Decision , a bar in the 600 block of Ninth Street, according to the police report.
 
TEEN DEAD IN CHARLESTON FOLLOWING SHOT TO HEAD
 
Shortly after 7 p.m., Monday, April 12, a fight occurred in the 800 block of Grant Street in Charleston. During a fight, one person pulled a gun and shot a 14-year-old who was not involved in the fight. The boy died of wounds to the head which he received outside Glenwood Elementary School.
 
Police are searching for a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice which may have four African American males in it. The license plate is 2JK962.

WOMAN RECEIVES CONSECUTIVE SENTENCES
 
Judge Dan O’Hanlon sentenced Emma Brown, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of a controlled substance causing (three) deaths. Brown received three 2 to 10 year sentences. By ordering they be served consecutively, the earliest she could come up for parole is six years.
 
Last week, Brown’s physician, Dr. Anita Dawson, had her medical license suspended for her alleged role in over prescribing prescription meds resulting in numerous deaths.
 
Brown sentence resulted from a collision in April 2009 that killed Meaghan Crawford and Kelsey Kuhn, two St. Joseph High School students, and Meaghan’s mother, Carole , on Alternate Route 10.
 
FIRE KILLS DOG
 
A fire at 3632 Riverside Drive Monday at about 2 p.m. destroyed the house and cost the occupant his dog. According to dispatch and firefighters, flames shot out of the structure when they arrived.
 
A Rottweller which the man had owned for twelve years died in the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
