Third Council Budget Session Saturday Morning
Tough Decisions Ahead; Public Input Requested

Huntington, WV (HNN) – Saturday will be the third of three early risers for members of Huntington City Council and administrators. The third of four budget presentations takes place beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12.
Echoing Mayor Wolfe safe and clean emphasis, councilman Scott Caserta suggested that to maintain progress the police, fire and public works departments could be hands off for cuts.
“We are facing overwhelming problems,” quickly inserting a more optimistic “challenges” into his assessment. We are up to the challenge, but we have to make some tough decisions.” Still, he believes a lot of “debating and studying” will occur before the body reaches a consensus.
Their overall task will be making determinations and decisions that will deliver bang for the buck by impacting the most residents.
“I don’t think anyone wants to go backwards, whether it’s an elected official or someone who lives here,” Caserta said, adding, “We’re all ears and open to suggestions” to solving the revenue, services and fee challenges.
