Manchin Dedicates Altizer Park

Huntington, WV (HNN) -- West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin dedicated Altizer Park with a new playground Bell X-1 airplane from Special Metals on Tuesday afternoon, June 30 in Huntington.

Speaking at the event in addition to Manchin were Huntington Mayor Kim Wolfe, James McClelland, Director/Secretary Greater Huntington Park and Rrecreation District, Stacy Wehrle, President of GHPRD and Stanley Kirk, Vice President of Special Metals.
 
Special Metals donated $25,000 to the constuction and planning at the park that has a space theme. Financial Assistance also came from the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Governor's Partnership Program.
 
Governor Manchin surrounded by children cut the ribbon surrounding the Bell X-1. In a short time children were climbing and sitting in the cock pit of the play Bell X-1 and having a good time.
 
Frostop provided root beer and hot dogs for those in attendance.
