In support of our military troops and local community heroes, the Girl Scouts collected cookie donations for Operation Cookie Drop. The cookies were sent to soldiers and their families at Fort Campbell, Fort Knox and local armories, as well as veteran centers, local police stations and fire stations.

Operation Cookie Drop is Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council’s most successful Cookie Share community service project. Since 2003, Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council has donated more than 65,000 packages of Girl Scout Cookies to the military, police, and firefighters.

“Operation Cookie Drop gives Girl Scouts and their communities a chance to show their support for our military,” said Wendy Henry, Communications Director, Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council. “We know that the soldiers really appreciate receiving Girl Scout cookies, they’ve told us how touching it is to receive these tasty American treats.”

“Thank you for thinking of all of us over here in Afghanistan. My platoon was very happy to get their cookies. It really lifted their spirits! I also want the girls to know what a great organization they belong to. I was a Girl Scout, it was wonderful!” Meara S., Military Police, Afghanistan

“I applaud the Girl Scouts for collecting cookie donations and sending them to the soldiers. I encourage and challenge each of you to remain dedicated to the Girl Scout program. The leadership, skills, and knowledge attained from the Girl Scout program will benefit you your entire life.” Major General (RET) Gregory Hunt, former Commander of the 100th Division, Thomson-Hood Veteran’s Center, Wilmore, Kentucky

“The Girl Scouts have produced leaders in all areas of life. Several of the women out here in the military are former Girl Scouts. The sight of your gift of cookies brought back many warm and happy memories. They all feel that the Girl Scouts gave them a sense of confidence and a strong belief in themselves. May you continue building great leaders for our community and our country.” Kentucky Air National Guard members on active duty

Donations to Girl Scouts’ Operation Cookie Drop are collected across east Kentucky, from Erlanger to Harlan County. Communities actively support this expression of appreciation to our hometown heroes. This year, the Council partnered with Operation Troop Aid to help deliver the cookies to service men and women overseas. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
