MoveOn.org members did what they do so well: organize--and brought their cell phones to Gourmet to Go Coffee House on Rt 60 Sunday. Organizers had lists of on-the-fence Texas voters in the Houston area to call and scripts of tips for voters in the Lone Star State who might not know for instance, that in that state's unusual primary system, voters MIUST vote twice for their votes to count. Almost 2,000 House Parties Nationwide to Call Texas Voters; Halle Berry, Sen. Ted Kennedy and Jim Hightower to Participate
Flagship Party to Be Held in Austin, TX
Washington, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Almost 2,000 "Yes We Can" house parties in support of Senator Barack Obama will be held nationwide Sunday night. The events, hosted by MoveOn.org Political Action, will be held in advance of the critical March 4th primary and caucus in Texas and will feature MoveOn members calling voters in Texas and encouraging them to vote and to caucus for Senator Obama. MoveOn has 125,000 members in Texas.
MoveOn members, armed with cell phones, will make over 400,000 calls to Texas Democratic voters--including all MoveOn members who live in Texas--Sunday afternoon and evening. This is the largest one-day phone bank in presidential primary history. Before they begin calling, MoveOn members will hear from actress Halle Berry, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and radio host Jim Hightower about the importance of Tuesday's vote.
