TRUE CRIME: Former MU Football Player Turns Himself in on 2 Counts of First
Degree Robbery; Woman Raped by 3 Men After Leaving Downtown Bar

Huntington, WV (HNN) -- Floyd Wright, 23, a defensive end on the 2005
Thundering Herd football squad, turned himself in to police Friday, May 19,
2006 on two counts of armed robbery.
Wright and two as yet unnamed men allegedly gained entrance to an apartment
in the 1000 block of 8th Street about 4:30 p.m. May 17, then held the two
residents at gunpoint while various electronic items were removed. All three
of the suspects brandished firearms holding at the victims for about 25
minutes before leaving with a computer, PS2 and $870 in an older model
Chevrolet with a Maryland license plate.
Wright was arraigned before Magistrate Rice. The police report does not
indicate the amount of his bond.
WOMAN RAPED EARLY FRIDAY MORNING ON SOUTHSIDE
A couple left St. Mark’s bar about 3 a.m. May 18, 2006 and while walking on
foot three white men approach them in a small red two door truck. One
suspect tried to get the 24-year-old woman to get in the truck. She refused
and continued walking with a 22-year-old male companion.
After the woman refused to get into the truck, the three men inside became
angry, called her a “slut,” and began following the couple.
At an unknown location, the suspects exited the truck and approached the
couple. The man who had been accompanying her fled.
The truck driver, described as a white man in his 20s with brown hair,
grabbed the woman by the throat, struck her, and broke one of her teeth.
A third man described as in his 30s with shoulder length black hair held the
woman’s legs and jerked her pants off. A third man described as bald and in
his 30s hit the woman in the head with a plastic bag.
One or more of the men then raped the woman. After completing the sex act,
the men fled. The woman grabbed her clothes, went to a nearby business, and
was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment.
ARRESTS
The following are among those individuals placed under arrest by members of
the Huntington Police Department:
- Larry Morris, 42, and Roy Holley, 36, at 30 West Third Avenue on charges
of grand larceny of metals from U.S. Equipment, 900 West 9th Avenue
- John Moore, 23, of South Point, Ohio, in the 1100 block of 4th Avenue, on
a felony charge of malicious wounding after allegedly injuring a security
person at Chickadees with a knife
- Gloria McDowell, 36, in the 1300 block of Madison Avenue, on a misdemeanor
warrant and an outstanding capias

The following are among those items reported stolen to members of HPD:
- Gateway laptop, Brink’s lockbox, CDs, DVDs, and cologne from a residence
in the 600 block of 6th Street
- 27” RCA TV from a residence in the 1400 block of Edwards Street
- Silver 2003 Pontiac Grand Am from a Chevron station at 2207 8th Avenue
- A Sanyo CCD video projector valued at approximately $5,000 from the Big
Sandy Superstore Arena. Carpet 36’ long x 9’ wide with Huntington Civic
Center on it was also missing.
