Huntington (HNN) – Dubbed "the fastest egg hunt east of the Mississippi," the Greater Huntington Recreation and Park District's annual Easter Egg Hunt held true to the name this year as youngsters lined up along roped off areas Saturday morning, March 26, 2005 at Ritter Park.

With hundreds of people coming to gather Easter Eggs, parking was at a premium around RItter Park on the chilly, foggy morning.

The plan was to have each age group go in order starting at 10 a.m. with 1-2 year olds, followed by 3-4, 5-8, and 9-12. Each group had a designated area.

Even though the announcement and instructions were given when the word "GO" came over the loud speaker, all ages took off at once.

There was no stopping this many youngsters and over 3,000 eggs were gathered quickly and gone from the fields of Ritter Park in minutes. Inside the eggs were prizes. The Easter Bunny was also popular with the youngsters.
