Chief Logan State Park Gets Jump on Spring

Logan (HNN) — Motorists were traveling through Chief Logan State Park the other day in substantial numbers despite an overcast day. The park looked more like winter with barren trees and tones of browns. In contrast to the scenery the temperature did feel like spring, bringing people out in jackets to enjoy the day.
 
Many people were out with their children at play ground areas while others enjoyed fishing at the lake. Deer could be seen along the roads in the park with motorists stopping to see them.
 
The state park is located four miles north of Logan, WV and is accessible from Route 10. There is also a recently built conference center that can be accessed from Route 119 (Corridor G). Events and meetings are held there, but more business certainly can be expected when they complete the resort center that will have lodging.
 
Currently there is no road that connects the conference center to the Rt. 10 side of the park, but plans call for a connecting road to bring both sections together.
 
Chief Logan State Park , covering more than 3,300 acres, is one of the most visited in the West Virginia park system. Chief Logan features campgrounds, picnic sites, a swimming pool, restaurant, a wildlife center, a lake for fishing and many playground areas. Shows are performed at the amphitheater in season.
