On October 6 & 7 Huntington played host to the 5th Soupy Sales Pro-Am disc golf tournament. The event was held on the Rotary Park course and the new course recently installed at Camp Mad Anthony Wayne. Over 70 players participated while nearly 50 traveled to our community from as far as Pittsburgh, Louisville, Lexington, Indianapolis, Roanoke, Columbus, and Cincinnati.
The players played, feasted, and went home with thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. They also stayed in our hotels, ate at our restaurants, and filled their gas tanks before heading for home.

The next tournament being organized is the 5th Huntington Ice Bowl raising food and funds for the Huntington Area Food Bank. This tournament has placed 4th the past two years in international competition in number of meals generated for the local food bank. Over 100 events are held annually. The Huntington Ice Bowl has placed behind Arlington and Houston, TX and Charlotte, NC. Huntington Disc Golf invites any individual or organization interested in becoming involved with the tournament to contact Don Kleppe at (304)429-8461. The goal for 2002 is $1,500 and 4 tons of food.
