I make no difference.

How many times have you been in a conversation with someone and get to talking about politics and how their vote makes no difference. It has been my experience that when someone says their vote does not count is because they do not vote. These people could care less about what is happening in their state and nation as long as it does not impact on them personally.

Take a look around and if you are happy with the way our state and nation is being run then thank the 60% of our fellow West Virginians that did not take their responsibilities seriously enough to vote during our last election. There is a group of men and women from our state that have given everything they had, including their lives in some cases, to insure that each of us continue to be held responsible for what happened in our state and nation. These men and women are called Veterans.

The Veterans of West Virginia take one day each year to ask our elected representatives in Charleston to not forget the sacrifices of our veterans and to support legislation dealing with veteran issues. This year we picked January 21st as Veteran Visibility Day. We will gather on the rotunda at 9AM and go from there to talk with our representatives about supporting veteran issues. The West Virginia Veterans Coalition asks our representatives to pass two pieces of legislation for veterans. One is the removal of the discriminatory tax on retirees and the other is to establish a fair fee for placing veteran grave markers.

Veterans of West Virginia I know that we have served our nation and state in places and ways that only we the veterans know about, however, our responsibilities to each other and our state has not ended. We must be in Charleston on January 21st and we must continue to vote and encourage
everyone to accept his or her responsibilities as an American.

No you did not make a difference if you do not exercise your responsibility to be informed and to register and VOTE.
