       Gambling in Huntington??

First lets looks at the Economic issues:

First, we would need to build a venture of this type here, ourselves, the
only way to keep the 12 million that will be spent in construction of a building,
complex, or riverboat in this community,  Out of towners do just that (take money out of town)

Second, we need to fill the key positions of the casino, riverboat, building
with people from our own community. Again out of town people will run this
proposition if permitted to do so.

Third, this is the only way to keep the profits working here in West
Virginia for us.

Fourth, the city departments seem to be having financial difficulties as it
is? Can you imagine the increased strain on the police department dealing with these
gambling issues?

Fifth, if the riverboat gambling issue is addressed the fire depatrment has
no way to extinguish a fire out on the river. So what will you do if 2,000 people are
on a boat that catches on fire?

Sixth, Do we want a city that seems to not be able to function with their
circumstances as they are; dictatiing to us about gambling??

Seventh, Gambling tends to wipeout everything in the downtown area that it
occupies the casino is giving away food which would hurt what downtown businesss we have left.

Eighth, Do our children need another vice ?? Do out of state casino operators
really care that a percentage of their money would come from our young people?

I don't see gambling as a cure for our economy it would be more of a burden
in our situation? Not to mention, how much money have the big casino's already give
to community leaders to further their issue? The government in our area needs to
stay out of private business and that is why business leaves our area at such
a fast pace. A casino operation would be no different.
