LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Common Sense
Fellow West Virginians:
It’s time for each of us to use some COMMON SENSE as we approach the November elections. As a retired military man, I firmly believe that most of us identify ourselves as Americans, West Virginians, Christians, and then somewhere way down the list, as members of one of the political parties. And you don’t have to be a Democrat, Republican or member of any other political party to know that this election is about ONE THING only. And no, I don’t mean coal! We ALL know that any politician elected to Washington from this state will do everything within their power to see that the best interests of the coal mining industry are always foremost in his/her mind and dealings with colleagues. Or face being ousted on their keesters quicker than you can say “Throw the bums out!” No, this election is about whether you believe the Obama administration and the U.S. Congress has done anything to help the common man.
Face the facts. This state DID NOT vote for Obama. No one I talk to is pleased with any legislation emanating from Washington. In fact, most people seem to be afraid of being able to just hold onto what they have and are hoping the bottom doesn’t completely fall out of our economy. I’m sure I don’t need to point out that the only changes we have seen are negative in nature. Sadly, things seem to be getting worse not better. This is not to mention the issues outside those of the economy.
If you agree with my assessment to some degree, then tell me HOW we can afford to elect Joe Manchin or Nick Rahall? To send those two to Washington as our elected representatives will only exacerbate the threats to our already fragile way of life. And if Raese and Maynard are elected and then don’t do what WE think they should be doing, I say “Out with the bums!” We put them in office; we can just as easily kick them out! Give this some thought. We have the opportunity to begin the process of getting rid of Obama and his cronies. Let’s not waste it!
