Huntington (HNN) —The hillbillies have moved to the city. Following the success of their Lesage road stand, Sonny, Sharie, and the rest of the gang opened their first restaurant-style Hillbilly Hotdogs Monday, May 9, 2005 in Huntington.

While the Huntington location, at 3rd Avenue and 15th Street, does not feature the graffiti-filled school buses (with record and eight-track players) that made their Lesage location a hit, the restaurant is still packed with zany charm and good food.

"We have wanted to come to Huntington for three years," proprietor Sonny Knight said. "We've been working a long time. We have a lot of parking and a deck. Everybody's accepted and we have a good time." The new location features an outhouse indoors and a bathtub. "Inside we have a country outhouse for two and an old claw tub to eat in," Knight said. "You can eat in the outhouse or the tub."

Knight said his first day of business in Huntington mirrors the opening day of the first location in Lesage.

"The first day was just like this. It was busy all day and it killed us. We were unique and set in the country," Knight said. "Things here are a little different. We can't do a lot of the things we did up there because we can't do it on the city's property."

An added feature to the Huntington location is beer and wine. "My wife is a wine connoisseur," Knight said. "So we have American Kendell Jackson and some of the finer wines but we also have Mad Dog and Boone's Farm."

The also hope to add fried chicken and mashed potatoes to the Huntington menu.

Hillbilly Hotdogs is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the week and from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
