Huntington (HNN) – Filmed in Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln and Lawrence Counties, "Lake Forest" which went into production in mid– January premieres Aug. 26, 2005 at the Keith Albee Theater. The locally produced horror film stars Eric Lee and Ashley Courtland Stinnett.
The film includes 'guest' appearances by J.B. Miller and Sheila of WKEE– FM's "Miller in the Morning," as well as Bill Comwell (formerly of WKEE), Jim Damron ("Forrest Gump") and Adam Joseph (former WSAZ– TV weather personality).
Written by Lee and Stinnett, the micro– budget horror flick follows two psychotic patients who suffer from a multiplicity of delusions. Soon, they find themselves asking what is real and what is imaginary. Stinnett's father, Lee, and Wayne County attorney, Don Jarrell, handled direction and videography for the production.
Various local folks contributed their time and assistance in the making of "Lake Forest." Several of the scenes, which included numerous local extras, were shot in the old Cabell County Jail and Jake's.
WKEE will be giving away 20 pairs of tickets and a signed movie poster for opening night. The winners will have prime seats with the cast in the balcony.
Cheap Thrills Media and Ten Dollar Movie Company, "Lake Forest's" producers, will donate 40 percent of the proceeds to the local chapter of the Autism Services Center. Founded by Ruth Sullivan, the non– profit provides support services and facilitates additional training for families with autistic children.
Dustin Hoffman, who played autistic Raymond Babbitt in "Rain Man" (1988) worked with and studied Ms. Sullivan's son during his preparation for that film, which later had an advance premiere at the Keith attended by Hoffman and the producers. Hoffman won an Oscar for "best actor," while the production received awards for best directing (Barry Levinson), Best Picture (Mark Johnson, producer) and Best Screenplay (Ronald Bass, Barry Morrow). "Rain Man" received a total of eight nominations.
