PRE HOLIDAY WEEKEND FIRST: Weekly Movie Comings and Goings

Huntington, WV (HNN) – This is a pre-holiday and Holiday weekend complicated Weekend First.
Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, new releases debut on WEDNESDAY, NOV 24, rather than FRIDAY NOV 26. That means older films have their last theatrical showings on Tuesday Nov. 23, not Thursday, Nov. 25.
Besides time changes to abbreviated schedules (i.e. one to three showings daily, not four to six), movies on multiple screens ALSO are rescheduled. For instance, “Unstoppable” , which some megaplexes have now on two screens with eight or nine daily choices, may drop to four or five on Wednesday, Nov. 24. The older 3-D films are also likely candidates for some time alterations particularly in theatres that have only one or two 3-D auditoriums.
THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT HARRY
Yes, he’s selling out rapidly with people purchasing advance tickets for the most popular times i.e. Friday and Saturday nights. If you have only ONE day to go and you want to see it THIS WEEKEND, unless you have a megaplex with two to four prints, expect crowds and sell outs. Purchase tickets on line to avoid disappointments.

THURSDAY MIDNIGHT
Advance tickets are now on sale for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One, which will have an advance premiere Thursday , Nov. 18 at 12 midnight at nearly all megaplexes. Yes, the wizard will sell out. However, Marquee Pullman, for example, has it in MULTIPLE AUDITORIUMS.
Meanwhile, this week’s openings are: The Next Three Days and Heartbreaker.

Four new movies are available to open wide (not all films in all locations; check schedules). The flicks include:
BURLESQUE: Cher, Christina Aguilera and Alan Cumming star in this story of a small-town girl from Iowa bringing new life into an aging burlesque club/theatre. When Ali steps on stage, she’s soon the star attraction of the revue.
FASTER: An ex-con sets out to avenge his brother’s death during a heist years ago. But on his tail are a veteran cop and a egocentric hit man.
LOVE AND OTHER DRUGS: Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Hathaway star as an alluring free spirit matched with a man of infallible charm. He’s a pharmaceutical sales person and the couple’s relationship evolves by surprise; they are under the influence of a powerful drug - LOVE.
TANGLED IN DISNEY 3D: Princess Rapunzel spent her entire life in a tower, but when she falls for a bandit, she’s going to have to venture into the outside world.
EXTRA MATINEES
During the Thanksgiving period, school is out and shopping and movie going are up. Look for more matinee and morning shows scheduled. Some theatres that normally show matinees only on Sat/Sun will have DAILY matinees.
