DEVOTION: Wrapping it up...

One thinks of Friday as the day to wrap things up...
looking to the weekend for a temporary break.
Even plans for Thanksgiving are being wrapped up...
and implementation will come quickly.
Some are already wrapping up Christmas...
getting ahead of the hectic holiday schedule.
We are wrapping up this year...
ready to begin plans for the coming year if they are not already on the drawing board.
Anticipation swiftly leads to employment of our time and energy...
as we move steadily from one day to another.
If we envision the gift of ourselves we are wrapping up daily...
a variety of packages might appear.
"Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it."
Some presence appears beautiful and sparkling... an array of light and laughter... comfort and inspiration.
"... but the greatest of these is love..."
Our presence may seem slip shod and wrinkled... less than desired.
"... but the greatest of these is love..."
In haste... our presence can leave behind a trail of tears.
"... but the greatest of these is love..."
O God, forgive me for wrapping things up without prayerful consideration of the gift. Help me to remember that the most precious offering received is that of Godly love...unconditional and total consideration of the well being of another. You promise to teach and inspire our hearts and minds so that the "giving of self" enhances the world around us. We so need to be guided by your Spirit.. to allow amazing grace to be taped in every gift of our presence. We cry out for your Hands to hold our hearts... placing love within all we do... wrapping it up.
