DEVOTION: Grand Parent of All

By Beth Bondurant

Here again...a WV women has been recognized nationally for founding a special holiday, Grandparents Day, designated here in the US and now has become part of many nations around the world.

Marian McQuade of Oak Hill wanted young people to understand how important Seniors are to our lives and so began her efforts to have Grandparents celebrated on a given day. She encourages youth to adopt a Grandparent to share fellowship with... year round.

"Because God loves us so... God sent Jesus to help us know how much we are loved. We are first loved by God. We are going to love... love and be loved."

Living in a family of faith teaches us more about the meaning of God's love.. the sacrifice of giving of self... putting another's need before our own.

O God... we give thanks for our family. You give us Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Grandparents and many others who embrace us and help us relate to how much You love us. Open our hearts to one another so we can be your sons and daughters and reach out to others in the same way you bless us. Help us today to find a child ... to put our arms around that little one of yours and let them know how special they are... how much they are loved. Give us the peace and strength that enables us to receive the love from one another even when we feel unlovable. Wise Parent.... hold us close and soothe away our fear. Creator of all living things... empower our compassion for those around us this day.... for you ARE GRAND PARENT OF ALL.
