Lilly Reunion NEWS
Special to Huntingtonnews.net
Pictured are Melba Lilly Underwood (right) and Ginger Lilly (left) of the Genealogy Committee of the Lilly Reunion Association getting ready for the 81st Anniversary of the Lilly Reunion to be held August 13, 14 & 15 at the reunion grounds at Flat Top, WV. Trish Lilly was in attendance, but not in the picture. The 2009 reunion set a Guinness Book World Record for the most family members in attendance.
Plans are being made and work is being done to make this year’s celebration just as successful. The genealogy committee is searching for children of Robert & Frances Moody Lilly who are not on the original family tree. Barbara Lilly Marsh, of the Lilly Historical Society, listed the following nine children: 1) Mary Polly married John Moody; 2) Nancy married Robert Richardson; 3)Judith married Rev. Josiah Meador; 4)Edmond married Edith Meador; 5)Thomas married Rosanna Meador; 6)Robert, Jr., born 1776 and came to Montgomery County while a boy, married Obedience Conley. 7)William married Margaret Burke, Jessie Crawford, and Frances Shumate; 8)Jane married Poindexter Toney, and 9) Frances Margaret married Mathew Pack.
Our Genealogy Committee is interested in obtaining a couple of books mentioned in James Richardson’s research: The History of Logan County by Henry Clay Ragland, which list the names of most of Robert Jr.’s children and their spouses and The Toney Family History by Elma Henning and Merle Rummel
Edmond, Thomas, Judith, William and Frances Margaret are the children of Robert and Frances Lilly whose descendents are the majority of the attendance of the Lilly Family Reunion. The other lines, Robert Jr., Mary Polly Lilly Moody, Nancy Lilly Richardson, and Jane Lilly Toney are most welcome to attend this year’s excitement of being the World’s Largest Family Reunion as of 2009.
Anyone with any information on any of these children are asked to bring it to the reunion, or contact Melba at 304-787-3102 or email melba32@suddenlink.net Anyone searching for information can come and look through the records we have at the Genealogy Booth.
If your genealogy line connects to any of the children of Frances and Robert Lilly you are considered part of the Lilly Family of West Virginia. Looking forward to seeing many new cousins and friends at this year’s celebration
