DEVOTION: The Order Of Things...

By Beth Bondurant

The Master Creator meticulously created all things living in a particularly type of form and order... such as the fact that 26 waves of the sea roll in to shore every minute... day or night.. in any kind of weather.

Animals and birds give birth after a certain amount of days have passed. You can set your time with the blooming of plants and trees ... they are so well programmed.

God's omnific plan is perfectly detailed.

Yet, we mortals... though given the gifts of God's original expertise have the power to think... decide... choose... adapt... experiment... test and live uniquely in our surroundings and lifestyle.

We can move and change and develop variations for our everyday living.

This is both dumfounding and daring.

We have an inkling of God's amazing way... yet we have the privilege to follow our heart, mind, body and spirit and choose life in terms of our own hope.

The consequences of our choosing can be both astounding and ambiguous.

From the feats of the pyramids to the building of the boulder dam... we see the possibilities of our God gifted ingenuity... yet we also experience the devastation of the current oil spill and the ongoing crisis it brings to remind us of responsible freedom.

Like the Psalmist we cry out: "I have lost hope. Remind me, Lord, each morning of your constant love, for I put my trust in you. My prayers go up to you; show me the way I should go. You are my God; teach me to do your will."

O God... help us when life is chaotic and out of order. Endow us with a calm spirit that breathes in God's strength and peace. Empower our minds and hearts to your "ordered way"... the way of perfect love. Enable our mind, body and spirit to move in incredible restoration when the consequences of our choices are overwhelming. We know that you, alone, are full of goodness and mercy... and we want to follow you all the days of our lives. Hold us in the palm of your hands; nudge us back into... the order of things... in light of your everlasting love.
