DEVOTION: Empty Nest

A friend has been monitoring the life of a robin family nested outside her work window and has shared the amazing details of God's provisions during incubation... birth and early life of four baby birds.
Unlike other living creatures ... the time line for this hasty transformation seems quite abrupt. It is just a few weeks in between the hatching and the hubbub of chirping beaks before the robin's hearth becomes void and empty.
The testimony of those who watched this phenomenon of nature's miracles attests to the wonder of it all.
Life is so full of activity and almost impossible scheduling that we most often miss the constancy of God's presence and provisions.
A sudden empty nest shocks us into the reality of how precious is each moment in time.
The trials and tribulations of responsibilities sometimes hides the meaning and beauty of our relationships.
What we have today moves on too hastily and is lost too quickly with the sunrise of another day.
O God... help us be able to live in the presence ... abide in the midst of our hectic world with eyes of understanding and awe. Give us the grace to accept the tasks of this day in light of your spiritual gifts that enable us to receive and pass on your love to those around us. Hold those close who are experiencing the breath taking challenge of an empty nest... for whatever reason. Allow us time for healing ... for restoration... for the infusion of hope and peace and for your astounding plan of love for us today.
