DEVOTION: Constant Hesitation
By Beth Bondurant
Better wait a little while longer... the timing just doesn't seem right. Not sure what the outcome will be... so don't want to take a chance. Even though things aren't going well... it could be worse.
It truly is hard to test a decision... to try something new... to take a different path... to taste a variety of experiences... to tangle with unknown directions... to tender an untried idea... to teach a difficult lesson... to tour a faraway location... to train unskilled hands... to triumph over fear... to tune into God's Spirit.
We constantly hesitate to step out in faith.
"This fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see."
Maybe it's because we have seen too many problems that exist in and around us. It's too easy to cling to the known than wander into the unknown. Why risk failure.
Believing in the power and presence of omnipotent love is formidable.
God knows we need help.
Even the disciples of the early church constantly hesitated when it came to change... to new ways for new days... for inclusive empowerment and unconditional forgiveness.
We haven't changed over the years and we constantly hesitate when it comes to love... to mercy... to goodness... to peace... to faithfulness... to patience... to gentleness.
"Another Helper will come and reveal to you the spirit of truth about God."
Constant hesitation keeps us from experiencing GOD WITH US.. ALWAYS.
