DEVOTION: Developing Seeds of Belief, Hearing and Hope

"These are they who have come out of the great ordeal..."
Name them... the ones you know this week 'who have come out of a great ordeal'.
The family whose lost their middle child riding with her older sister (the driver) and younger brother when they pulled out in front of a large truck on their way to school. The sister was killed on impact.
Those who gathered to plant trees in remembrance of those they loved so dearly.
Memorial services giving thanks... shedding tears... offering hope.
The slowly dissipating volcanic ash... uncovering life and signs of a normal day.
Those listening to the cry of earth and sky; awakening ... respecting and restoring the balance of nature in the way we live and move and have our being.
"For this reason they are before the throne of God. They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
It is a promise that through it all we are given the resources and faith we need to keep on keeping on when all seems dormant in our heart, mind, body and spirit.
It is in our "living together" that we lift one another up... draw close to one another's heart... seek to touch and care and reach out in love as God's hands of healing... in "wiping away every tear from their eyes".
It doesn't always come in instantaneous restitution... but unfolds and evolves into tender seeds of belief, hearing and hope.
It isn't easy to risk time and relationship with "those who have come out of a great ordeal"... but those who plant developing seeds find God's amazing grace in the fragrant blossoms and blooms of reliable springtime.
Resurrection has come! It is sustaining truth that God's love prevails.
