DEVOTION: Top Down Day
By Beth Bondurant
Temperatures rose into the 60's... along came the warm rays of the sun... signaling a top down day for convertibles.
Having to be 'closed in' due to inclement weather ... especially for long periods of time makes a top down day MOST welcome.
Whether walking or riding or sitting or lying... working or playing... being able to have NOTHING separate us from the rays of the sun soothing our tired bodies minds, souls and spirits is healing.
In our day-to-day routine... and frequent survival mode that keeps us moving almost in robot fashion... we soon find ourselves in the shadow of our faith feeling dry lonely and empty.
The coldness of responsibility... icy relationships... slippery circumstances... fears piling up along with the current doubts of our era... leave us almost in an isolated ... lonely igloo.
Breaking out into God's wonder and present... feeling the calm and assurance of love and strength... knowing a peace that passes all understands ... makes for a top down day in our faith.
During our Lenten journey.. we need reminders that God's warmth and understanding touches every part of our heart, mind, body and spirit.
"Make the most out of what God gives... both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what's given and delighting in the work. It's God's gift. God deals out joy in the present, the now."
Move out into world... knowing God's presence is as close as the air you breathe.
Take advantage of the top down days... and seek God's Spirit surrounding your heart, mind, body and spirit... in healing strength.
