Ron Paul Says Vote 3rd Party: Legalize Political Competition
By Kevin Patrick

On Sept. 10, 2008, Presidential Candidate Congressman Dr. Ron Paul told Americans to vote 3rd Party. Paul says that most presidents are elected with only 20-30% of the American People's support. In a country which says it supports free speech, a diversity of ideas, and freedom; why do the two major parties have such a monopoly on news coverage and debates?
Paul, a Republican congressman representing several Texas counties south of Houston, suggests that it is time we stop voting for the lesser of two evils. If you compromise your beliefs 1% you have lost 100% of the principle.
Paul invited several third party candidates to his press conference, including Chuck Baldwin (Constitution party), Ralph Nader (Green Party), and Bob Barr (Libertarian Party). Only Mr. Barr declined the invitation.
"If you ever get to the point where you believe the two parties are essentially the same, then if the majority is outside the establishment, then it's not very democratic..." In a world where soldiers and civilians die under the pretense of spreading 'democracy,' albeit at the point of a gun, we have stepped off the path of Liberty and integrity.
Although Dr. Paul is a ten-term Republican Congressman from Texas, he urges voters to vote their conscience, even if that means not supporting their party's Nominee. Paul believe that any Candidate who has gone through the process and has the numeric possibility of having enough Electoral votes to win should be allowed in the debates. Paul suggests that until that time the Candidates have alternative debates, which this author believes would be more interesting to most voters than the same old rhetoric of the past.
"I don't want to hurt anybody, I want to help save the country..." Dr. Paul's campaign has be an unprecedented event, breaking two fundraising records this year, raising over $18 million in a single quarter, breaking the one-day donation mark in the Republican party, and the most dollars donated on the internet in one day. He continues this trend by supporting third party candidates, and breaking the mold of Politician, and showing that American still has statesmen.
