GOV. APPOINTS FAMILY COURT JUDGES

Gov. Bob Wise today announced the appointment of 32 family court judges to serve one-year terms under the new family court system created by the West Virginia Legislature.

The newly appointed judges, many of whom serve as family law masters under the current system, will assume their new posts January 1. Those who wish to retain the judgeships under the new system will have to run in primary elections in May 2002. Voters will select judges for the initial six-year terms in the November 2002 general elections.
