No one was seriously injured in a two car accident at 25th Street and 3rd Avenue about 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday. One of the vehicles was a state car driven by State Fire Marshall Maurice Hartz. The driver of the other car, a white Honda Civic, was an unidentified woman.

Initial reports indicate that Hartz’s car was forced to the side of 3rd avenue by another car as he was heading west. Hartz’s car then severed a telephone pole on the north side of third avenue and veered south onto 25th Street at the corner where he hit the Honda Civic and nearly severed another telephone pole on the east side of the street.

Police blocked traffic along 3rd avenue from 26th to 24th streets. According to American Electric Power workers at the scene, power in the East End of Huntington would be cut off while repairs were to be made.

A spokeswoman at American Electric Power said electricity on the entire Hightlawn circuit was shut off, but should be restored by 3:15 p.m. However, HNN staff was at the scene at 3:15 p.m. and repairs were still in progress.
