The South Side Neighborhood Association
will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, November 2nd. The
topics for the meeting will be the second annual "Light Up Your
Neighborhood" campaign and the Association's Zoning Committee Report. The purpose of the South Side
Neighborhood's annual "Light Up Your Neighborhood" campaign is to
encourage residents to turn on their exterior lighting throughout the night.
Turning exterior lighting on during the night time hours provides greater
safety and security, and enhances the attractiveness of the
neighborhood. In conjuction with the campaign, the Association will
seek volunteers to assist elderly residents replace light bulbs. Door
prizes will be awarded at the meeting. The South Side Neighborhood Association established a Zoning Committee in the fall of 1999 to examine the current zoning ordinances and make recommendations for changing the zoning ordinances, if needed. The Zoning Committee presented its draft report entitled, "Statement of Findings and Recommendations", at its October, 2000 general meeting. At the November 2nd meeting, the Association will discuss a proposed vision statement for future of the South Side Neighborhood. A representative of the City of Huntington's Huntington Planning Department will be present at the meeting. For More Information, Contact: David McIlvain, President, 525-1506 |
