Resident Complains About Council’s Behavior
By T. Michael Murdock, For HNN

Ray Browning, a resident of Huntington, and member of the Walnut Hills Action Team, attacked Huntington City Council this week, saying the council does not respect the residents who use their valuable time to attend meetings.

Browning’s argument stemmed from his attendence of the council’s work session last Friday, in which council immediately went into executive session, causing those in attendance to wait almost an hour and a half.

“I’m irate,” Browning began. “I came here and sat for over an hour to be in on that work session. This council put two lawyers in front of the people they represent for some unknown, questionable reason. Now people, those guys got paid. I didn’t. I resent the fact that you guys would go into executive session in the beginning of a meeting like that and make us sit out there for an hour and fifteen minutes!”

Browning went on to say that he trusted that from now on, the executive sessions would be at the end of whatever agenda the council had, no matter how long or short that agenda was.

“Whether you like it or not,” Browning yelled, “there’s power out there (the constituents) and I plan on rattling a few cages to see that things change.”

Another Huntington resident and council meeting regular, D. Everett Fullerton, agreed with Browning’s statements.

Council refused to speak on the matter during “Good and Welfare”.
