A Marshall student died in the Gullickson Hall at Marshall University in the evening of Feb. 27, James Terry, director of Marshall's Public Safety, announced several minutes before midnight.
The name of the person is unannounced. After confirming the death of the student with his/her parents, the University Communications will announce more information as early Thursday, February 28, Terry said.
According to Marshall’s journalism students, one of them received a phone call at about 10 p.m. from someone, saying one female athlete committed suicide in the basement of the hall. But Terry did not specify the place or whether the student was in the sports team. He said the student "unexpectedly" died.
The Marshall's police department is investigating, Terry said.
The announcement was made in front of the Gullickson Hall.
