Angel to deliver State of the University
address Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Three days after announcing the kickoff of the public phase of Marshall University’s most ambitious fund-raising campaign ever, President Dan Angel will deliver his State of the University address Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the General Faculty Meeting.

The meeting begins at 2 p.m. at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center. In addition to Angel’s address, Faculty Senate President Jim Sottile will discuss proposed constitutional amendments and deliver a State of the Faculty address during the meeting. Also, Sottile will introduce Marshall’s 70 new faculty members.

Angel and Tim Haymaker, national chairman of Marshall’s Campaign for National Prominence, announced last Saturday that MU plans to raise $100 million in private funds by the end of 2005.

Angel has titled his address “Upping the ante: Engagement for the Public Good.” He said he plans to discuss “our achievements, three significant challenges that we face and three significant new initiatives” during the State of the University address.
