Marshall Names Employee of the Year

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Peggy Egnatoff, Administrative Associate in the College of Fine Arts, has been selected the Marshall University Employee of the Year for 2001-2002, according to Jim Stephens, Director of Human Resource Services.

The announcement was made today at a luncheon honoring the 12 employees who were chosen as employees of the month during the past year. Egnatoff, who has worked at the university for almost 20 years, was the September, 2001, Employee of the Month.

Egnatoff was presented a plaque, a check for $300, and a gift certificate from the Marshall University bookstore, by Lance West, Vice President for Alumni Development and Assistant to the President. She was nominated by Donald Van Horn, Dean of the College of Fine Arts.

In his nomination Van Horn wrote, "She has exemplified all the characteristics of an extraordinary employee. Peggy is loyal to the institution, she is extremely hard working and efficient. She serves the College of Fine Arts and its departments and programs with a pleasant and helpful attitude, strong attention to detail, and an uncanny knowledge of the many procedures and policies of the university. She frequently makes navigating the institutional bureaucracy much easier for all of us who have the honor of working with her."

The only secretary to serve the College of Fine Arts, Egnatoff drew high praise for her creativity, flexibility and her ability to single-handedly manage a large variety of tasks.

"Her contributions to the life of the college are invaluable," Van Horn said. "Moreover, college staff and faculty know that if they have problems, Peggy is the person to go to for resolution. Students adore her, and faculty and staff depend upon her guidance and valuable assistance time and time again."

Van Horn noted, "Marshall University and the College of Fine Arts are both fortunate to have Peggy Egnatoff as an employee. Her unmatched dedication, creativity, and professionalism are models for all employees of the university."

Members of the Marshall University staff and faculty can make nominations for Employee of the Month. A committee chaired by Stephens makes the monthly selections and then chooses one of the 12 winners to be Employee of the Year.
