Michael Haupt, general manager of the Ramada, 3441 U.S. 60 East, Barboursville, has been appointed to the Cabell-Huntington Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.

His term will expire Dec. 31, 2002. His eligibility for reappointment to a full three-year term would begin on that date. The Cabell County Commission has supported the signing of a $70,810 contract with the state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services to pay the salaries of two full-time and one part-time victim advocates.

The funding helps the Victim/Witness Program in Cabell County Prosecutor Chris Chiles’ office. The money also helps pay for training, travel, a computer and victim’s advocate assistance management system.

In May, county commissioners received a letter from Lora J. Maynard, justice programs specialist with the state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services, congratulating the county on receiving the award of a Victims of Violent Crime Act assistance grant. County officials have hired several local people during the past week to fill slots as correctional officers and paramedics.

Cabell County Sheriff Kim Wolfe and County Jail Administrator James Johnson have hired Timothy L. Corbett as a full-time correctional officer for the county jail. Corbett replaces Officer Gwynetta Meade.

Brandon Scott Best of Chesapeake, Ohio has been hired as a temporary full-time paramedic with the Cabell County Emergency Medical Services, Director A. Gordon Merry III has announced. He replaces Christopher Frazier.

Ronald Edward Holley of Kenova has been hired as a temporary full-time paramedic with Cabell County EMS. He replaces Elizabeth Schmidt.

Diane L. Nelson has been hired as a full-time paramedic. She has been working on a temporary basis since Feb. 11.

John Bryant Perry has been hired as a full-time paramedic. He has been working on a temporary basis since May 5.
