Baby Found in Dumpster

Pike County, Ohio—A newborn baby was found dead yesterday morning in a dumpster.

              This morning investigators in Pike County, Ohio, are trying to figure out why a 16-year-old girl would have hidden her pregnancy, then dumped her newborn baby into a nearby dumpster.

              Sherrif Larry Travis received the call of an infant in a dumpster yesterday morning, April 11.  They tried to revive the baby but were unsuccessful.  

            The mother’s sister had apparently asked the girl if she was pregnant, but she said she was just gaining weight.

              “Why didn’t she leave it on my porch,” said neighbor Becky Cutler.   “I think it’s sad they didn’t have anyone to turn to.”

              Police are looking into charging the girl with murder, but no charges or arrests have been made as of yet.
