Huntington Renaissance Development Corp.

Aids City's Elderly

Doing some good for the elderly citizens of Huntington, is the brand new Huntington Renaissance Project located in the former Huntington High school building.

Housing Development Corporation President William Dotson calls it a "Multipurpose intergenerational building."  Mr. Dotson says he makes this reference because of the different age groups and variety of people who helped make this facility a reality.

The project is for people over the age of 62 to have a place they can call home.   Currently there are vacancies with one and two bedroom apartments.  The one bedroom apartments are $354.00 per month and the two bedroom apartments are $437.00 per month.  They also have a rent based on income system with help from the Section 8 rental assistance program.  This is not all the Huntington Renaissance Project offers though.

Located on the ground floor is The Art Resources of the Tri-State program.

Applications for available vacancies are accepted Monday through Thursday, from  8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Northcott Court Number 3, or contact Mr. Dotson by phone at 1-304-526-4442;  e-mail at  bdotson@access.mountain.net.

They should be applauded for contributing something positive to our city and by doing so they empower us all to help when and how we should.  Kudos to Mr. Dotson and all who have helped make this worthwhile project happen.
