A group of generous West Virginians are volunteering their time to help put a nice chapter into a tragic story, but a Huntington family is still asking you to open your hearts and your wallets today to help them bury their seven-year-old son.
Melvin Kornegay died in Georgia from injuries he sustained in an ATV accident where his father was driving.
Duff Ambulance employees have volunteered to bring Kornegay's body to Huntington, but Melvin's mother can't to pay for his funeral.
Jim Smoot, Melvin's great uncle, said, "We need to pay for all the funeral expenses."
If you'd like to help, the Chevron station at Eighth Avenue is collecting donations. Ferrell Mortuary is also collecting donations and coordinating the funeral plans.
