Thursday, August 15, the smell of barbeque will fill the skies along the banks of the Ohio River as Riverfront Ribfest VII returns to Harris Riverfront Park to open a four-day weekend of delicious barbeque and family fun.
Miller Lite, Trivantage Community Federal Credit Union, WOWK TV, WTCR-FM, WKEE-FM, and WAMX-FM have all teamed for the seventh version of the annual event. Award winning national rib vendors will be on hand offering the finest in barbeque ribs and other fine cuisine throughout the weekend. Each vendor will be competing for cash prizes for the Best Ribs as well as the Best Sauce of the event.
Musical entertainment will be available each night on the main stage. Plenty of family attractions are also a part of the weekend’s activities including face painting and carnival games for children. Starting Friday, the always popular pig racing enters the starting gates along with a petting zoo for guests of all ages.
Ribfest VII opens Thursday night at 5:00 pm and lasts until 11:00 pm. Friday and Saturday, the event is open from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm while Sunday closes out the weekend with the hours lasting from 12 noon – 7:00 pm.
"This is a great weekend family event," Ribfest VII Marketing Director Heath Brown said. "There seems to be something for everyone in the park and this is the one time each year that Tri-State residents can come out and taste some terrific food items!!!"
Admission is just $2 for adults and $1 for children. Games for the kids, the pig races, and the petting zoo are all free of charge. On Friday, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, there will be a Business Person’s Luncheon Special with FREE admission during those hours.
