Huntington Repertory Theatre Brings "Sylvia" To Playhouse Stage

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Huntington Repertory Theatre returns to the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse at Marshall University with the David Cook-directed summer production of A.R. Gurney’s "Sylvia." Performances are scheduled June 26-28 and July 10-12.

Originally produced in 1996 by the Manhattan Theatre Club, "Sylvia" is a romantic comedy set in New York about a married couple. Greg is a financier whose life has stalled. His wife, Kate, has a new career. Greg embarks on a delicious and dizzy love affair. So what's new? The other woman in this affair just happens to be a dog! A dog who is a shameless flirt, who not only talks back when spoken to, but quotes Homer and sings Cole Porter.

The Marshall University Theater Department advises that this production contains adult language and subject matter and is recommended for mature audiences.

All performances take place in the Francis-Booth Theatre. Show times are 8 p.m.Tickets are available through the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse.  Season ticket patrons receive a special ticket price of $7.00.  All seats are reserved for general admission at $8.00 for seniors and $10 for general admission. Tickets are available for all performances with the exception of the July 12 performance, which is sold out.
