Foley Named Director of Major Gifts for MU Society of Yeager Scholars

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Stacey Foley has been appointed the Director of Major Gifts for the Society of Yeager Scholars at Marshall University, Carolyn Hunter, Vice President for Development, announced today.

The Society of Yeager Scholars is a program that provides a scholarship for students which includes tuition and fees; room and board; a stipend for books and supplies, a study abroad experience and the use of a personal computer.  The four-year scholarship is awarded as long as the student maintains a 3.5 GPA and an honors course load.  The program is named for U.S. Air Force Brigadier General (Ret.) Charles E. “Chuck” Yeager, who is a native of Hamlin, W.Va.

The Yeager program has accepted 13 scholars to begin at Marshall in August for the fall semester.

Foley said she is responsible for raising $11 million for the Yeager Scholars as part of the Campaign for National Prominence, which is a major funding raising effort by the university.

“Our goal with the $11 million is to permanently be able to provide 20 Yeager scholarships a year,” Foley said.

Foley is a graduate of Marshall with an undergraduate degree in Marketing.  She went on to receive her M.B.A. at the University of Colorado.  Before assuming her position at Marshall on May 6, she was employed by Syscan Corporation in Charleston, W.Va., as the Director of Marketing and Communications.

“We are very pleased to have Stacey on the development staff.  She brings experience to the position as well as good communication skills, she is deeply involved in the program and we believe she will do an excellent job,” Hunter said.

More information regarding the position or Foley is available by contacting Carolyn Hunter at (304) 696-6443.
