ITS TOOL TIME
IN HUNTINGTON
The Huntington Civic Arena will be the site for another modern rock extravaganza
as the band Tool makes the Tri-State a stop on their 2002 summer tour.
Tool, along with special guest, Tomahawk, takes the Huntington stage on
Thursday, August 8, at 7:30 pm.
Tool was formed by Maynard Keenan and Adam Jones in Los Angeles in 1990.
Their debut CD, Opiate, was released in 1992 to critical acclaim with
the video for the single Hush receiving wide spread praise
from rock music critics. Their sophomore release, 1993s Undertow,
included support help from Henry Rollins and achieved platinum status,
earning the band a slot on the 1993 Lollapalooza Tour. Undertow was also
selected as one of Entertainment Weeklys Top 10 Best Records of
the Year.
The band earned a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package for their
album Aenima in 1997. Tool would go on to win two Grammy Awards for Best
Metal Performance in both 1998 and 2002. Their latest release, Lateralus,
debuted at the top of the US charts in the fall of 2001. Prior to the
announcement of their summer tour, the band was featured in the lineup
for Ozzfest 2002 in Europe.
Tomahawk unveiled their self-titled debut CD in the Fall of 2001. The
band, led by former Hank Williams III lead guitarist Duane Denison and
Mike Patton, was described as the best hard rock band in years,
by the Alternative Press.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 29, at 12 noon, at the Civic Arena Box
Office, all Ticketmaster locations, and on line at www.ticketmaster.com.
