Sheriff Gartin Gives Atlantic Vending Until Monday To Pay

Interim Cabell County Sheriff Hercil Gartin, in an exclusive interview with HNN, said that the battle with Atlantic Vending Company and Sam Kapourales is just beginning.

"I've given them ten days," Gartin said.  "If they don't pay up in ten days, we're going to file suit."

Sheriff Gartin said the battle of letters back and forth between the Sheriff's Office and Atlantic Vending has ceased, but Kapourales has not agreed to pay.

"They have until Monday, Nov. 20th, to pay," Gartin said.  "I told them this on Friday.  They want the state to pay them, but that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they charged sales tax to the Cabell County Jail Commissary, when we aren't supposed to be charged tax."

If Kapourales and Atlantic Vending do not pay by Nov. 20th, the Cabell County Sheriff's Office will file a suit for $25,000.  Gartin said that since the problems were started here, the court case would more than likely be heard in Cabell County.
