The apartment fire Thursday claimed a victim early Friday morning, according to Fire Chief Greg Fuller.

The blaze, which Fuller said investigators believed began from a cigarette, or some sort of smoking material, destroyed apartments at 7th Street and 6th Avenue.

The victim, a 56-year-old Bob Olsen, had been rescued by fire fighters during the blaze, and taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital.  Olsen died just after midnight, and the cause of death has yet to be released.
