United States Senator Mike DeWine, on a campaign trip through southern Ohio,
visited Chesapeake Elementary School Monday. DeWine
is currently on a fifty county tour of Ohio and wanted to see a school in
southern Ohio. Principal Jack Finch and school board members Reverend Carl
Lilly and Paul Leffingwell gave DeWine a tour of the soon-to-be remodeled
school. After
the tour, DeWine read to teacher Marsha Ater’s second grade class. Three
of Senator DeWine’s grandchildren and two of his children were present.
Ater presented the senator with a Chesapeake Elementary cap and an embossed
shirt with ‘Senator Mike DeWine’ inscribed on it. The students also gave
the senator thank you cards about each of the student’s favorite books. After
the reading, Senator DeWine gave his views on issues. “In
economic development there is no easy answer to the question of job
creation,” DeWine said. “I
have sponsored legislation to replicate teaching academies.
I’m a strong supporter of ‘Troops to Teachers’, veterans can
move into education.” |
