Huntington Man Wanted In Michigan For Sexual Assault

Two signs the fella driving in front of you may need the assistance of a concerned law enforcement official: his hazard lights are blinking and he's swerving from the left lane to the right.
Fortunately for the blinking-and swerving man, the driver behind him was a Huntington police officer, who was more than eager to help him during a time of trouble.
The officer stopped Michael R. Polk, 27, of 2616 Rear First Ave., as Polk drove west on U.S. 60 approaching 31st Street about 5:11 p.m. Thursday. He'd been drinking beer, he told the officer.
A records check revealed Polk was wanted on a fugitive from justice warrant out of Michigan for sexual assault..
When police checked his car, he found three pills of Clonazapan, an anti-depressant and Schedule IV drug, in a small plastic bag inside a pack of Marlboros. Polk was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Other news from the Huntington Police Department Friday:
----- A 27-year-old Huntington woman was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital after she thought she may have been shot while driving on Ninth Avenue near Eighth Street about 4:12 a.m. Friday.
The woman and two men were traveling west in the 800 block of Ninth Avenue when she heard gunshots and felt pain in her right shoulder. One of the men drove her to the hospital. She had a large welt on her right scapula.
When an officer arrived at the hospital, one of the men and the car were gone. Without being able to examine the car, the officer couldn't make a determination on the woman's injury.
----- The Huntington Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire in the 200 block of West 8 1/2 alley about 9:15 p.m. Thursday. The car was reported stolen out of Columbus, Ohio, and a one-gallon gas can three-quarters full was found at the scene.
A Columbus person told police he heard a loud boom in the alley. He walked outside and saw a young man walking away from the alley. He saw a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier on fire.
